CLASS 6

Thanks to a generous grant from The Arts Society, our Year 6 pupils had the incredible opportunity to work with a Animation Nation, a professional animation company to create their very own stop-frame animation from scratch. Over the course of the project, the children developed a wide range of skills — from storyboarding and scriptwriting to model-making and set design. They learned the patience and precision needed for frame-by-frame filming, honed their teamwork and communication abilities, and explored digital editing techniques to bring their stories to life. This hands-on experience not only nurtured their creativity but also gave them a real insight into the world of animation production.

Going back to basics, exploring line and detail, trying to let go of control slightly.

Culminating what we have looked at and explored, producing some amazing self portraits.

Using hand building techniques and colour knowledge, in small groups Class 6 produced some beautiful birds thinking about themselves, spreading their wings and starting new adventures.

CLASS 5

Looking deeper into the colour wheel.

Researching and exploring artists and craftspeople who have had a big impact on the artworld today.

Appreciating the techniques and ideas behind other Artists work, and forming our own unique and valid opinions on what we see and find out.

Being inspired by Artwork, and creating surreal paintings mixed with text all about our characters we have created.

Merging traditional and contemporary. Mr Doodle was a definite hit with Class 5! They combined doodling, with surreal landscapes, and finished with a print inspired by their research and exploration.

CLASS 3

CLASS 2

Learning about the colour wheel and how to mix colours.

Linking into Sustainability Week and looking at British birds, the children created some original backgrounds and produced a print of a bird of their choice in the style of a contemporary illustrator.

CLASS 1

Class 1 looked into different colours and tones, and how these can be made using paint.

Class 1 had their first Art exhibition! They practiced mixing different tones to create these stunning Disco Balls which were on display in The Telephone Gallery. We had some wonderful feedback from members of the public.

After reading the ‘Snail and the Whale’ the children learnt how to weave, and how to mix in different materials to create some party shells for their snails.

The class linked their session to the class book ‘The Lonely Beast’. We looked at printing techniques and colour transfer techniques and created our own Beasts. Then using watercolour resist, we produced some homes for the beasts.

Based upon ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ we focused on line and shape and created some whole class expressive pieces. They were ginormous! This then led onto some stunning individual lighthouse prints below.

CLASS R

The children thought about Spring time and gathered some plants and leaves to create some relief print clay wall-hangings. We thought about keywords related to the seasons, colours we might see at this time of the year, and texture – both of the natural elements we were using, and the cool, smooth clay we were handling, all whilst creating these beautiful outcomes!

The children worked beautifully with their Class 6 buddies in creating these under the sea themed pieces. They started by discussing and drawing together what they might encounter as a mermaid or a pirate in the ocean, then drew some beautiful pictures together, which formed the basis of these stunning mini sculptures.
